Epic Finds

Once I cut out dairy, gluten and processed sugar I had to go on a treasure hunt to find sweet treats I could still enjoy. I may be giving you the impression I eat lots of snacks but I don't one of these amazing small Ombar bars would last me a week as I would have a square or two a day. I love discovering new things to enjoy that tick my three boxes as we all need to enjoy life so hopefully my guide to treats I've discovered will help you. As I am UK based these may not be available in other countries (sorry).

Ombar

These were one of my first finds, they are Organic Raw Chocolate made without dairy. They sell lots of different flavours and you can purchase a bundle of mini bars (as per the photo above) so you can sample them all. My favourite is the Coco Mylk one it tastes pretty good considering it's made completely differently from Lindt (hmmm) I think I purchased these from Amazon but you can checkout their website here The great thing is they are also fair trade so you can feel good about your purchase. (Ingredients: Unroasted Cacao, Coconut Sugar, Creamed Coconut, Cocoa Butter, Vanilla Extract, Live Culture: Lactobacillus Acidophilus), Cocoa solids 55% minimum - may contain nuts) You can create your own bundle of 8 bars so definitely worth trying them out if you are looking for a chocolate replacement.

Enjoy!

These were a more recent discovery and wow, I though Ombar was amazing but you have to taste Enjoy's Velvety Vanilla Caramel Bar and you will be amazed. It is delicious and melts in your mouth. I am so in love with this bar but also their Fudge, Chocolate Buttons and Box of Caramels are all fab. Check out their website to see their whole range of delicious sweet treats. The bar featured above is free from dairy, refined sugar, gluten and soya. I have asked my husband for the Assorted Box of Caramels for Christmas so will keep you posted on that (fingers crossed)

Fabulously Free From

Oooh I had forgotten about this, I discovered these in Sainsbury's and they did not disappoint. I love chocolate covered raisins they are awesome so to be able to enjoy these still is amazing and I've just added some into my online shop for tomorrow (naughty me!) (Ingredients: Raisins (55%) (Sunflower Oil), Coating (45%) (Raw Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Soya Flour, Cocoa Mass, Emulsifier: Sunflower Lecithin), Glazing Agent (Gum Arabic, Carnauba Wax), Cocoa Solids 42% minimum) They are £1.50 for a bag, which is no surprise because anything that is GF and DF is expensive as you possibly already know. I need to check out their website and see if they make other tasty treats...

Creative Nature

This has become one of my favourite shopping places because as you know I love cake and these guys do the best brownie mix which perfect for enjoying with dairy free ice-cream and strawberries when friends come round for dinner. The boys also quite enjoy eating them too. They not only make tasty baking mixes they also make gnawbles which are basically like Malteasers but tick all my boxes! They are really addictive, they only started with small packs and you would be search the empty pack in the hope of finding more - thankfully for you they now do share bags, although you won't want to share these tasty balls lol! Yum! If you like easy baking then definitely check their website out.

Vive

Another recent find. One thing I love about Facebook is they do well at matching other brands to you, so once you start looking at products like Ombar and Creative Nature along come advents for other similar products so I am always discovering new things. I saw an ad on Facebook for a sample pack of Vive Protein Brownie Bars - after having a quick look at their website to make sure they ticked my boxes, I ordered them. I've tried a couple of protein bars before and they always taste a bit weird NOT these, they taste great. I am not sure which of these 4 flavours is my favourite as they are all good, but if you pushed me I would say the chocolate orange one. Okay it's not quite Terry's Chocolate Orange but hey I can't have those anymore sadly. I am not 100% sure these don't contain sugar having just checked out their website again, so perhaps I won't be buying more of these.... If you aren't overly bothered about the sugar then check out their website and if you are lucky they might still have their Christmas Gingerbread Bars on there which are super tasty!

Maria Lucia Bakes

Breakfast was one of the hardest things for me, as I have always been a cereal lover so trying to find something that ticked all three boxes was really difficult until I stumbled across Maria Lucia Bakes on Amazon. Her granola is gluten free and made with no added sugar and tastes so good. She has quite a few options and after trying a few I have stuck with her Cashew, Almond and Cinnamon granola which is really tasty with my unsweeted almond milk. Be warned this is not cheap cereal so keep it away from anyone else in the house who might sneak a taste! I order in bulk from her website so I never run out - there were moments during lockdown when that nearly happened but so far I've had it every day for about a year now. Check out her website here

(Ingredients: Gluten free oats, sultanas, rapeseed oil, honey, cashew nuts, flaked almonds, desiccated coconut, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, natural vanilla, cinnamon)

RW Garcia

Sometimes you want a snack that is savoury and yes there are plenty of crisps out there that don't have gluten or dairy in but again read the labels as you may be surprised. I discovered these beauties in Costco 'Sweet Potato Crackers' and they are really tasty and make a perfect savoury snack. I always have a pack of these hanging around my desk and tend to have them once or twice a week - about 10 at a time (Ingredients: stone ground yellow corn, sweet potato, sunflower oil, flaxseed, black sesame seeds, chia seeds, sea salt)

Looks like they make a whole range of other gluten free snacks, so definitely worth checking our their website

Alpro Ice-Cream

One thing I really missed was ice-cream and I've tried a few dairy free alternatives which were not great at all and went straight into the bin. This summer however I discovered Alpro's 360 Chocolate Swirl Ice-Cream which absolutely tastes amazing but it does contain sugar. I have yet to find an ice-cream which ticks all three boxes, so if you find one that tastes great please let me know and I would love to try it.

I am sure there are plenty more things I have tried but can't think of anything else right now. I do feel like I am sharing my secrets with you, so if I struggle to buy my favourite cereal after posting this I might cry lol! Let me know if you do try any of these products as would love to hear your views in the comments and also any products you think I might like to try.
